In September, 1979, Musicians United for Safe Energy [MUSE] organized 5 sold-out concerts in Madison Square Garden in New York City. MUSE was comprised of anti-nuke activists and rock and roll stars who came together around the same time as the Three Mile Island nuclear meltdown in Pennsylvania.
The concerts also became a 3-record set released by Elektra Asylum and a Warner Brothers film, both called NO NUKES. Among the over 40 artists who participated were Graham Nash, who re-united Crosby, Stills and Nash for this one occasion, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, James Taylor and Carly Simon, The Doobie Brothers, and Bruce Springsteen with his E Street Band, who played at his first benefit concert. From the concert, record and film, MUSE raised and donated over $1 Million to anti-nuclear and safe energy groups throughout the United States.
As a part of the MUSE fundraising effort, 4 famous New York City-based artists created anti-nuclear or safe energy posters to the cause. This resulted in 80 numbered and signed fine art posters from each artist which were to be sold during the concerts. This wonderful effort by the artists only hit one snag - the elaborate and expensive printing process was not completed until weeks after the concerts! Thereafter, put in storage and essentially forgotten, they have only recently surfaced, 30 years later, and are now being made available for sale.
The No Nukes Concerts have recently been chosen among the Top 50 events in Madison Square Garden history, and will receive honors as such.
Mondomara is proud to have exclusive worldwide rights to sell these rarities, and proceeds from poster sales will help continue the work of anti-nuclear and safe energy activists. Here is your opportunity to purchase four very unique posters available in very limited quantities.
